San Francisco Lutheran

Nehemiah Project

The Bethel Center - Since 1973, The Bethel Center has been providing services to adults with developmental challenges living in San Francisco and Daly City.  They offer programs in two general areas:  Vocational training and personal Enrichment.

Food Pantries - Bethel - Grace Ministries and Shepherd of the Hills and New Life Lutheran Churches provide over 600 people with the food they need to cook healthy meals in their own homes. Weekly farmers’ market-style distributions allow clients to select the foods that best meet their families’ needs. From fresh fruits and vegetables to bread and rice, each client receives much-needed, nutritious foods that are otherwise unaffordable.

Coat, blanket and toiletries collection - Throughout the year member congregations collect toiletries that are distributed to the many people in our City who cannot afford them.  In October through December we collect blankets and coats to be distributed to the community.

LSS Partnership - Member congregations have partnered with Lutheran Social Services to provide support and compassion services to those people whose lives LSS is already touching in ways that show the love of Jesus for all people. Click here for our LSS Joint Service Plan.

Laguna Honda Worship - Every third Saturday members of New Life, Shepherd of the Hills and Zion provide a worship service for the patients at Laguna Honda Hospital.  Volunteers are always needed to transport the patients and to help with the worship service.
